hit the ground running

the trip was a trip, & we arrived after 24 hours of travelling & grabbed a couple of hours of shut-eye & went off to meet all these people we had corresponded with over the last 2 or 3 months.
the race was pretty well organised & started on time. it seemed to have a different route than i expected ,however we ran along the side of a river bed so it was pretty flat. drink stations regularly & gu [gels] every so often. at the turn there was beer[although at 945 in the morning i fel it was a bit early]
13.1 miles passed in quite a long but ultimately comfortable flash, with no real upsets. the announcers shouted out our names as we entered the stadium with a little help from one of the other runners who pointed out that we had just arrived that day from scotland-a great feeling.
brilliant crowds & a great party afterwards completed an amazing 1st day in the states. no real signs of jet lag either.
just need to get out for a run today or tomorrow before i've eaten so much that i'll be unable to do it....
having a fab time so far!
