The Great North Run 2012: Do something fantastic in 2012 and take part in the BUPA Great North Run!
 
On 16 September 2012, join a mix of elite athletes, celebrities and charity runners taking part in the Bupa Great North Run and help fund vital research to save lives.  The 13 mile route starts in the heart of Newcastle and crosses the Tyne Bridge before finishing in South Shields.

Loch Ness Marathon – Sunday 30 September 2012
 
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running is a notable fixture on the running calendar. The route begins in an atmospheric location and continues through breathtaking scenery, taking you along the south-eastern shores of Loch Ness, across the River Ness, and into the centre of Inverness, capital city of the Highlands.  The centuries-old legend of the Loch Ness Monster is a story that continues to run. Along with the scenic beauty of the area, it has been responsible for attracting visitors to this fascinating part of Scotland for many years.
